What is nowadays the competitive advantage among suppliers for the same or similar products: Speed is the advantage.
According to a new study by Dropoff, a U.S. courier company servicing Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Miami, Los Angeles, and another metropolis, same-day delivery is on the rise. In 2018 almost 50% of customers expect vendors to offer expedited service. A recent survey published by Zebra Technologies anticipates that in 5 years, almost 80% of logistics companies will offer same-day delivery by using crowdsourced delivery, a network of part-time couriers connected via an app, to deliver parcels to customers in less than one hour. Speed undermines brand loyalty, so much so that 2 out of 3 Amazon shoppers are ready to buy from another merchant if it offers faster delivery. Shipment gratification is an important deciding factor in placing an order, so Amazon started an Instant Pickup service near college campuses in Atlanta, Berkeley, and other cities, to allow customers to retrieve some items in few minutes. Last December it was inaugurated in an urban park in Alcobendas, Madrid the first 3D printed bridge in the world. It had a total length of 39.4 ft (12m) and was designed by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) Spain and developed by a team of engineers and architects, in collaboration with public officials.
The material used for 3D printing is concrete powder micro-reinforced with thermoplastic polypropylene. https://iaac.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/1-Puente-impreso-3D-1024x681.jpg |
