#Innovation – blockchain technology allows authentication of students’ records and work experience12/10/2017
Building trust in the digital age is now possible thanks to the protection against tampering as every transaction generated in a blockchain network builds on the previous transaction. A transaction cannot be changed. It should be reversed with another transaction and both will be made evident to other users, as they all share the distributed ledger. Blockchain the underlying technology for Bitcoin digital currency is now being used to build trustworthy networks no longer related to buy and sell digital currency. Sony and Sony Global Education (SGE) have recently announced a system for authentication of students’ records, transcripts, and work experience using IBM blockchain technology powered by Hyperledger Fabric 1.0 www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/201708/17-071E/index.html click image to read more This type of blockchain network is permissioned (users can specify what data other users are allowed to view) and no actor is anonymous as opposed to the permissionless blockchain used in Bitcoin.
A permissioned blockchain will require new actors to present identification and access to the network may be restricted. It is intended to be used by academic institutions, students, and organizations as it will preclude forging the academic curricula of the candidate applying for a new job or to admission in any college across the globe if the institution is part of the network..
