East Tennessee State University has already implemented digital technologies to facilitate the interaction in real time among faculty members and students, aiming at a goal of having the Internet of Everything (IoE) across all institutions.
IoE is the extension of Internet of Things (IoT) to encompass also people and processes. By using electronic textbooks, the instructor may know the topics more difficult to understand by students. IoE also allows monitoring student engagement and performance. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs are currently getting most of the advantage of implementing IoE. Physical Therapy and Physical Education are also early adopters of IoE.
